Notes:
Burris and some of his family moved to Georgia in 1783 and was granted 287 1/2
acres of bounty land for Rev. War service by the State of Georgia, 17 May 1784.
The land was in Washington Co., Ga. Burris later moved to Florida, in late 1780
or early 1790, where he met and married Isabella. Burris and his family
were living in present Nassau Co. where he settled. About 1791 he moved across
the St. Mary's River to Camden Co. Ga. where he bought land and was granted land
on Todd's Creek. His last land acquision was 10 Jan 1816 in Camden Co. for 500
acres on the St. Mary's River. He died about 1820 and was buried in what was
later to be called Evergreen Cemetery near Fort Henry on the St. Mary's River,
in Nassau Co. Fl.
Georgia County Records: pg 427-428; 14 Jan 1791. Buruss Hickumbottom to Thomas
Culbreath, for 50 pds, 287 1/2 acres on waters of Richland Creek, a Bounty
granted the said Hickumbotton 20 Sept 1784. Signed Burrus (X) Hickinbottom,
Ezbell (X) Hickinbottom. Wit: Peter Crafford, James Mc Neil. 20 Jan 1791, James
Mc Neil attested before Davis Gresham J.P. Reg. 2 Feb 1791.
